GUERNSEY – The Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers suffered a 40-38 loss on the road to Guernsey-Sunrise Thursday, with the Vikings exacting revenge over an earlier season win by the Doggers.
The Doggers were up 31-29 after the third quarter, but the Vikings made a run to close out the game, limiting L-FL to seven points in the final frame and putting in 11 of their own to come around the Doggers for a two-point victory.
Ty Mueller tallied 12 points to lead the Doggers, including three from behind the arc and three from the charity stripe. He also led the team with two steals and three blocks, while tying for the team lead on the glass with six boards.
Mason McFadden chipped in seven points for L-FL, five of which came from the free-throw line. He also was credited with five rebounds and a block. Rhett Greenwald also had five points from the line, for his five-point total on the night, which he paired with six rebounds and a steal.
Scott Gilchriest contributed four points, while Cordell Forkner and Caeden Riley contributed three points apiece. The trio also combined for eight rebounds, two assists and a steal. Riley had the Doggers’ only two assists. Rounding out the scoring, Hayden Hill and Brandon Hill had two points apiece. Hayden Hill also had two boards and a steal.
The Doggers struggled from the floor, where they shot 26 percent, and they hit only 17 percent from behind the arc (2-for-12). At the charity stripe, L-FL knocked down 18-of-26 (69 percent).
The loss drops L-FL down to 2-9 on the year. The Doggers hit the road for a game against Morrill, Neb. on Tuesday after press time. They return to the floor Friday on the road, taking on Burns with a 7 p.m. tipoff. On Saturday, the Doggers host Pine Bluffs at 4 p.m.
